IT'S ME, ONLY BETTER!

Four & 1/2 Stars
What a piece of work is Izzy. When we
last saw Winnipeg's Shannan Calcutt
and her brilliantly bizarre alter-ego at
the 2000 Fringe, Izzy was waiting for a
date. Now this crazed clown, who's both
utterly charming and absolutely frightening,
has given up all hope and is getting
herself into a nunnery.
Or she will when Izzy stops waffling,
wandering in her mind and all over the
theatre in a last-ditch effort to find a man
before settling for chastity. Calcutt has a
masterful sense of control and absolute
belief in her character, so no matter how
funny members of the audience might
think they are when called on to participate,
Izzy will soon set them straight as
to who's running the show - and who's
by far the funniest clown in the room.
As always, when she asks, "Do you
think I'm pretty?" the answer had better
be a resounding YES!
