Intrepid Theatre is the producer of the UNO Festival of Solo Performance and Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival in Victoria, B.C. As producer of these annual events, it is my great pleasure to recommend Shannan Calcutt, a.k.a. "Izzy the Clown," to you.
It has been our great good fortune to host all three parts of the Izzy Trilogy in Victoria at both the Fringe and Uno Festivals, to standing-room-only houses and standing ovations. Shannan has also been voted "Best Performer" by the audiences of the Victoria Fringe.
Following her sold-out run at the Uno Festival in 2001 with Out of My Skin, she will be returning to Uno this year with Burnt Tongue. The juried festival runs May 12 - 18 at the Belfry Arts Centre, and we are delighted to have the extremely pretty Izzy as our Uno "poster girl" this year, as one of the festival's most popular and best-known performers.
I've seen Izzy work her magic on half a dozen occasions, and the audience eats out of the palm of her hand - often returning on subsequent nights to see the show again.
Even though the Uno Festival lineup has not yet been officially announced, rumours of the return of Izzy are already flying, and we've had ticket enquiries already - confirming her position as a virtual rock star of the Canadian theatre festival scene.
But enough about Izzy already - Shannan is a delight to work with. She's utterly easy-going and friendly, provides the most complete and useful promotional materials you can hope for, and she puts on a completely reliable, unforgettable, dizzyingly good show, instantly establishing a loyal fan-base that you can count on next time.
As one of our favorite festival performers, I recommend Shannan to you without hesitation.

Let me sing the praises of our national treasure, IZZY the clown, and her creator Shannan Calcutt. The Vancouver International Comedy Festival was thrilled to be able to present all three plays in the IZZY TRILOGY to a thunderous response from 2000 - 2002.
Shannan's wonderful creation Izzy has that amazing ability to have audiences howling with laughter one moment and moist eyed the next. She is always in complete control yet leaves lots of room for her improvisational skills to shine through. The standing ovations she received at the VICF are an ongoing testament to the great charm and comedic talent that Shannan brings to the stage.

Lunchbox Theatre has booked two of Shannan Calcutts' shows for presentation as part of our 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons. In January of 2001 we presented Shannan's BURNT TONGUE and in January of 2002 we presented her second "Izzy the clown" piece, IT'S ME, ONLY BETTER!
Both shows were successful for our company, and it was a delight to have Shannan here working with us. She is entirely professional and her shows are of the highest quality. Shannan has been known to us for many years. She has been a participant
artist in both of our festivals, the Saskatoon International Fringe
Festival and the Her-icane Festival of Women’s Art.
This year during Her-icane Ethel, we invited Shannan to be our visiting
Guest Artist. Not only did she charm & delight audiences with her show,
Burnt Tongue, Shannan also lead a discussion session about creating your
own work and marketing it. As well, she conducted one of her renowned
workshops, Celebrate Your Own Ridiculousness.
We received very positive feedback from participants and audience

We loved working with Shannan. She is as professional in her

Shannan performed "Burnt Tongue" and "It's me, Only Better!" on January 25, 2002 at the Maurice Young Millennium Place in Whistler, B.C.
Shannan's performance was brilliant. She had the audience in tears of laughter throughout the entire show. She has a real talent for relating to and playing with her crowd.
